CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Currently studying (or bachelor's degree in) computer science, software engineering, or a related subject
• A passion for open source software
• Willingness to work on font technology and development
• Interested in improving Linux open source support for Indic scripts
• Experience with Linux development is preferred
• Knowledge of font technology, including the FontForge tool, would be a plus

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Learn and understand OpenType fonts, including GSUB and GPOS rules
• Rewrite the OpenType tables for Lohit Bengali, Devanagari, Gujarati, Oriya, Telugu, and Kannada
• Ensure that the final version of these fonts work on both Fedora and Windows
